Thrush and Highway 9 Accident

On 02/15/2019 at about 0418 hours the Worth County Sheriff’s Office was notified of two vehicle accident east of Thrush Avenue on Highway 9. A Worth County Deputy arrived on-scene to find a Tan 2006 Buick Lacerne driven by Devin Allen Dewalle from Osage Iowa in the north ditch. In the south ditch was a Gray 2013 Kenworth tractor/trailer driven by Michael Raymond Helvik of Alexander Iowa. Both drivers were transported to Mercy One Hospital in Mason City for unknown injuries. Highway 9 was restricted to one lane for an extended period of time to remove both vehicles from the roadway. Assisting the Worth County Sheriff’s Office was Manly Fire Department, Mason City Fire Department, and Dick’s Towing. The accident remains under investigation.
