On December 25, 2019 at approximately 7:40 pm two Worth County deputies were on a traffic stop at Highway 65 and 450th St. While on this stop the deputies were almost hit by a southbound vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted on that vehicle on Highway 65 at 430th St. Upon further investigation the driver, Michael Stumpe of Mason City, IA was arrested and charged with open container and possession of drug paraphernalia. The passenger of the vehicle, Tamara Hakes of Hanlontown, IA was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance- 1st offense and possession of drug paraphernalia. This incident is still being investigated and more charges are possible.
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
