At approximately 930hrs on Saturday November 3, 2018, the Worth County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a private party possibly striking a gas service at 303 5th St N in Northwood. Upon arrival, the odor of natural gas could be smelled and heard coming from the north side of the residence. Several homes were evacuated as a precaution until Alliant Energy could stop the leak. Residents were allowed back into their homes at around 1030 hrs. The Worth County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Northwood Fire Department and Alliant Energy.
