On 02/22/2019 at approximately 2341 hours a Deputy with the Worth County Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop on a Silver 1998 Chevrolet C1500 that had recently been in the ditch and for having snow covering the registration sticker/county on the license plate. 46 year old Scott Shafer, of Plymouth, was identified as the driver of the vehicle. 34 year old Danielle Ness, of Mason City, and 54 year old Myron Demaray, of Northwood, were identified as passengers in the vehicle. It was learned that Ness had a valid warrant out of Cerro Gordo County. A bong, multiple pipes used for smoking methamphetamine, methamphetamine, several prescription pills, as well as a 9mm Smith and Wesson handgun with a fully loaded magazine were recovered. As a result of the stop, Ness was taken into custody for her outstanding warrant and for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Simple Misdemeanor). Demaray was taken into custody for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Simple Misdemeanor) and Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine)(Class D Felony). Shafer was taken into custody for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Simple Misdemeanor), Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine)(Class D Felony), 2 counts of Unlawful Possession of Prescription Meds (Serious Misdemeanor), and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon (Class D Felony).
