On October 10, 2017, the Worth County Sheriff’s Office charged Ty Wooten, of Clear Lake, with false report. Wooten’s original claim of attempted rape with injuries and weapon would have been felony level making the false report charge a serious misdemeanor. During the investigation, the morning after Wooten reported the alleged attack, she recanted her statement in an interview with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations that the attack never happened and that there was not anyone else involved.
