The male subject that perished in the house fire on 1/26/2022 at 20114th St. south Northwood, Iowa was 54-year-old Douglas Alan Braun of Northwood. The other occupant of the house and the deputy who were taken to Mercy One of North Iowa for possible smoke inhalation were treated and released that same day. No foul play is suspected but the case is still under investigation by the Northwood Fire, Worth County Sheriff’s Office, State Fire Marshal and the State Medical Examiner’s office.
